Task Force
A Task Force at Houghton College recently submitted a recommendation on the subject of dancing for the Statement of Community Responsibilities. This recommendation will be submitted to the Board of Trustees by President Mullen this coming February. We'll see what becomes of all of this....

Whats your stance on the Dance thing?
I genuinely don't have a problem with dancing, but it's been a topic of discussion between myself and other Houghtonites as to where it should stand on campus. It would be nice to have formal dancing at banquets etc. But, if you give an inch will they take a mile? And/or is it just too ambiguous of an issue to try to set specific allowances for what kind of dancing will be allowed on campus. It may be better to stick to the current regulations keeping in mind the idea behind having such a statement of responsibilities to begin with. What's best for the COMMUNITY! I still have yet to read the recommendation and what it is asking.
